Regarded as one of the deadliest shooters in the history of our region, Theartis Wallace joined the basketball team at Columbia Basin College after scoring 1,138 points in 70 games at Richland High School.  Wallace was named First Team All-State in 1962.

Taking his talents to JUCO powerhouse Columbia Basin College, Wallace became a force on one of the best junior college teams in NWAC history.  Riding a 27 game win streak, Wallace averaged 12.5 ppg., leading the Hawks to their fourth consecutive NWAC championship.  As a sophomore, Wallace would lead the Hawks to a record fifth straight title, while being named to the All-Tournament Team..

After transferring to Central Washington University, Wallace continued to score at will.  He averaged 12.5 points, leading the Wildcats in scoring average as a senior, while grabbing 255 rebounds during his career.  In 1969, Wallace was named to the NAIA All-American First Team as he led the Wildcats to a 24-9 record and a third place finish at the NAIA National Tournament.   Wallace was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in 1969.

Theartis Wallace is a member of the Richland High School hall of Fame, Columbia Basin College Hall of Fame, and the Central Washington University Hall of Fame.
