Another game, another blow out for the Women. Going into today, Pierce was racked with injuries and only suited 12 eligible players for the match. Prior to the game, at was agreed upon that each half would only last 35 minutes.
For the third game in row, CBC scored right away. This time it was a header from Dani Chang off the cross from Reba Wheeler in the first minute. Pierce began to put up a good fight as Chang and company struggled to get anything going until the 20th minute.
Kati Letellier sent a ball into the box that met
Hannah Clarke's foot straight to the back of the net, 2-0.
"The goal for the day was to work on the little things like combination passes, set plays and fighting for the shut out." Letellier said. This year's team has yet to meet a quality opponent so these games have been opportunities to improve communication and spacing.
Just before half, Clarke scored again from Chang's pass to put CBC up 3-0 at half. The second half went on without much excitement.
Cassidie Andrews was able to score right on the backside of halftime from
Hannah Johnson which would eventually end in the final of 4-0.
Sophomore defender
Mikayla Hunter lauded the Hawks passing for the day. "I think we've been possessing our combination plays very well in the attacking third of the field." When asked about the upcoming match at NCAA Whitman College, Hunter was optimistic. "We just need to stay compact, stick to our game and not slow down for anyone. If we do those things, we can hang with anyone."
CBC is on pace to score 100+ plus goals, a number that surely will regress as the competition intensifies in the East Region but they are proving that they are a must-watch this year.
They will take the field at home again on Saturday September 14th against Treasure Valley. For now, they move to 5-0 which is good for the best record in the NWAC.
