If you were betting that
Omar Anderson's club would score within the first 5 minutes, you would be correct. For the 4th home game in a row, CBC scored in the first few minutes. This time it was
Megan Haugen with a strong boot from
Dani Chang.
After a few near misses,
Hannah Johnson found net off the pass from Reba Wheeler to push the lead up to 2-0 in the 17th minute. In the 30th minute,
Cassidie Andrews scored off a Johnson pass putting it at 3-0 in the 30th minute.
Similar to past games, the offense went stagnant for most of the second half as Treasure Valley made it a point to keep the ball away from the Hawks as best they could. Coach Anderson could be seen rallying the troops during an injury timeout reminding them no lead is safe an they need to push harder.
In the 85th minute,
Mikayla Hunter received a through ball down the right side which she took right at the keeper before dumping it to Andrews who pounded it home for the score. Just before stoppage time,
Bailey Whitney controlled a
Marae Romero cross just outside the penalty box and gave it a strong try from 25 yards out. It curved just past the keeper's outstretched arm into the corner for the final goal of the day.
The 5-0 win improves CBC's record to 8-0 which puts them atop the NWAC and the East Region (2-0). They will take on a very strong Yakima Valley team in Yakima on Wednesday, September 18th.
