FINAL SCORE: Columbia Basin 0 Treasure Valley 0
The CBC men settled for a surprising 0-0 tie against Treasure Valley on Saturday. Despite many scoring opportunities, the Hawks could not seem to get one to find the net.
Without some key starters, Basin put forth a quality effort that went unrewarded as the Treasure Valley defense seemed to catch every break needed for the shutout. In the first half
Zinedine Moreno found his way behind the Chukar defense but the keeper was able to get a finger on the shot that caromed off the post. Moreno and company continued to press the issue but came up empty in the first half.
Coming out of halftime, the Hawk offense continued to press the issue as Diego Cervantes sent in a strong shot that drilled the crossbar before being deflected out of the box. CBC outshot the Chukars 13 to 3 on the day but every chance they had seemed to have a Treasure Valley defender in the right spot at the perfect time.
The tie still gives CBC a 4 point lead in the East although they would have loved 3 points on the day instead of 1. They will travel to take on second place Blue Mountain on Wednesday in a pivotall game that could put CBC in the drivers seat for the remainder of the season.
