Kalehuawehe leads CBC to 6-0 win

FINAL SCORE:  Columbia Basin 6  Treasure Valley 0

A 4-goal second half helped propel CBC to the 6-0 victory against Treasure Valley on Saturday. Hali'a Kalehuawehe netted two goals while assisted on one to lead the way for the Hawks. Traditionally a fast starting team, Basin chose the converse today. After Coach Omar Anderson preached to his team about finishing stronger in their second halves, CBC took it to heart with a big second half.

Alexis Olivas opened the scoring in the first half with a great poke from a Kassadi Suitonu pass that put Olivas in perfect position for the finish. Treasure Valley sustained a couple of injuries early that saw them play with 10 from periods of time. Cassidie Andrews pushed one in just before half from Kalehuawehe to extend the lead.

Kalehuawehe wasted no time in the second half scoring a great try created by herself on the left wing. She was able to get home again off the cross from Olivas right at the net as it soared over the keeper. Despite missing a few key players, the Basin defense showed no hint of allowing a Treasure Valley chance lead by Adelyn Suarez on the back end.

After a keeper foul in the box, Baylee Shewchuk put away the PK to make it 5-0. Kylee Alvarez added one more for good measure from Zoe Asue.

The win gets CBC back on track and in place for a possible East Region title with 4 games to play. They will travel to Blue Mountain on Wednesday to take on the Timberwolves who they previously beat 6-0 at home.
