FINAL SCORE: Columbia Basin 3 Treasure Valley 0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-14)
Coming in to the night, Columbia Basin needed a win with a little bit of help from North Idaho at Yakima. CBC took care of their part beating Treasure Valley 3-0 behind 8 kills from
Lucendy Perez.
The Hawks came out determined to prove that they belonged atop the East and they did just that. Set 1, Perez and
Tamia Allen-Greggs lead the way for Basin with 3 kills in the 25-14 set win. Even with tensions running high, coach
DiShondra Goree was able to squash the nerves of her players and guide them to the victory.
Set 2 saw CBC again come out strong and work their way to another win. The Hawk attackers consistently pounded balls across the net that the Chukars could barely handle. Again Basin defeated Treasure 25-14 in the set in convincing fashion.
A little bit of a slow start in set 3 allowed Treasure to hang around at 7-10 but then CBC took control back on their way to the finish. Six different Hawks put a kill on the board in the set in the combined effort finishing on a 11-2 run to close the match out.
With the CBC win and Yakima Valley losing to North Idaho, Columbia Basin can officially be named East Region champions of 2021.
