FINAL SCORE: Columbia Basin 6 Wenatchee Valley 3
After sweeping the Knights in Wenatchee, CBC opened up the home double header with a 6-3 win.
Landon Webb turned in a quality start going 6 innings and giving up just 1 run but earning the No Decision. The Hawks scratched a run in both the 3rd and 4th inning off a Fielder's Choice and a basehit from
Alex Rodriguez to go ahead 2-0. Rodriguez doubled in the 6th to extend the lead 3-1. Wenatchee was able to tie it up after reliever
Kyle Baumgardt got in some trouble but
Kaimana Savaiinaea was able to get out of the inning at 3-3.
Basin was able to answer right back with
Evan Devolve doubling in 2 runs and then scoring himself off of an
Isaac Haws sac fly to make it 6-3. Savaiinaea went on to close out the next two innings to earn the win in the tight game 1.
FINAL SCORE: Wenatchee Valley 9 Columbia Basin 5
Wenatchee was determined to get at least 1 win after dropping 3 in a row in the series. The Knights scored in each of the first 3 innings off of starter Jon Garza II who struggled with command early. After trailing 4-0, CBC scored 2 in the 4th from a
Jared Perry triple and a hit by pitch for Haws to score Perry. A few defensive miscues in the 5th lead to a 4-run inning by Wenatchee to extend their lead 8-2 which would prove insurmountable.
A few RBIs from
Will Baker,
Devon Garner and
Kirby Robertson were not enough as CBC came up short 9-5. Despite the loss, the 3 wins were enough to take the series in convincing fashion. Basin will take on Big Bend starting Thursday in a 4-game series starting at home and then finishing at Moses Lake on Sunday.
