Game 1 Final Score: Columbia Basin 6 Spokane 5
Fresh off a sweep at Blue Mountain on Thursday, CBC looked to keep the mojo going in a late-added double header against Spokane.
Landon Webb got the start for game one and was dominate for 7 innings allowing just 1 earned run on 5 hits heading into the 8th. CBC scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 7th on a string of wild pitches from Spokane.
Adrian Crain wore a pitch for the first RBI of the inning and would later score on a past ball.
Will Baker singled in a run and also scored on a wild pitch.
Webb found himself in some trouble in the 8th, walking 3 batters before getting the hook.
Kyle Baumgardt came on in relief but left a change up out over the plate that Spokane first baseman Jace Phelan hit over the trees in right field for the grand slam tying the game at 5-5.
Kaimana Savaiinaea would eventually get out of the inning unscathed and pitch a scoreless 9th. In the bottom of the 9th,
Tyler Polacek was hit by a pitch and then stole second before Crain singled to center scoring Polacek for the game winner.
Game 2 Final Score: Columbia Basin 6 Spokane 1
The Hawks were able to keep the bats going in the second game of the double header. CBC tagged starter Cameron Liss for 3 runs in the bottom of the first to jump ahead 3-0. CBC starter
Jonathan Garza II took a no-hitter into the 5th inning by keeping Spokane off balance all game. The no-no was broken up with a bunt base hit to load the bases with no outs in the inning. Garza proceeded to strike out the next two batters and capped the inning off unscathed with a fly out to right.
Basin scored 3 more in the 6th with
Evan Devolve tripling to right for two RBIs followed by an RBI single by Crain. That was all the Hawk staff would need as they cruised to the easy 6-1 win for the sweep.
CBC will be back in action this Thursday at Treasure Valley starting at 1pm MST (12pm PST). They will return home on Sunday to take on the same Treasure Valley squad starting at 1pm.
