FINAL SCORE: Columbia Basin 84 Big Bend 71
It's hard to beat a team twice in a row but CBC was able to complete the week's sweep of the Big Bend Vikings.
Jase Edwards lead the way for the Hawks with 28 points and 5 assists on 13-20 shooting.
Carson Cloaninger chipped in 11 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in support. A quiet night for
Tyler Kurtz who was held to just 6 points on the night didn't matter as Big Bend couldn't stop Edwards. CBC jumped out early again leading by as many as 18 in the half. Basin shot 63% from the floor in the half good for 52 points and a 15 point lead.
We didn't quite see the blitz we saw last game outside of half but Coach Owens' bunch methodically kept the game at +21 for most of the half. Some late calls for Big Bend allowed them to get back in the game at the free throw line where the Vikings shot 12 more than the Hawks. It would not matter as the defense was able to dig in late for stops. The Vikings only made 2 of 13 3's in the half and just couldn't muster enough to make a real run.
CBC moves to 4-1 on the year riding a 4-game win streak. They'll continue the home stand this Tuesday against region power Spokane. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30pm following the women's game.
