Columbia Basin split a double header Sunday against Treasure Valley. After getting 8-runned in the first game, CBC returned the favor in the second game.
Basin struggled to get any offense going in Game 1 as Treasure Valley jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after 1. Starter
Marissa Bartels struggled with command at times but was eventually relieved by
Shaine Madden who was able to hold the Chukars off but it was not enough as Basin failed to scratch a run in the contest. Hard hit balls found only gloves in the field as the Hawks left 5 runners on base for the 9-0 loss in 5 innings.
Game 2 featured a normal CBC display of power at the plate. Freshman
Kendra Hart went 4-4 including a 2-run home run and a 3-RBI double.
Amanda Brown turned in her best performance of the year so far with the complete game victory allowing only 2 unearned runs on just 4 hits.
Kylie Koszykowski also finished the game a perfect 3-3 at the plate scoring 3 runs and also driving one in. CBC scored 7 in the 3rd with doubles from
Alyssa Schwendiman and
Izabel Stohel before capping it off with the 2-run home run from Hart.
It was more than enough as the Hawks finished the job in 5 innings to earn the split. That wins also keeps their record at an even 4-4 on the year. They will travel to Spokane on Thursday before retuning home on Sunday in a 4-game series against the Sasquatch.
