Men's Basketball beat Treasure Valley 106-91 on Tuesday. The win comes after a tough road loss to Big Bend after giving up a 15-point lead late. The Hawks had four players score 20+ points on the night. Freshman
TJ Smith chipped in 20 points off the bench on 8-11 shooting.
Tyler Kurtz had 21 points after getting in some foul trouble early.
Jase Edwards and
Garrett Streufert each added 20 in the effort.
Like most of their games, Basin jumped out ahead early and never looked back. Kurtz went to the bench with 2 early fouls but Smith cashed in three 3-pointers in his place. Edwards took control late in the half when Treasure Valley began to try and cut the lead.
Outside of halftime, Kurtz went to work catching up on missed buckets. After the Chukars began a barrage of 3's, Kurtz poured in 16 points for the half to help stave off the attack. Basin shot 63% from the floor on the night but was only awarded 1 free throw for their efforts. CBC lead by as many as 24 before settling into the 15-point victory.
The win pushes their record up to 5-2 on the season after missing 4 games. They will take on a feisty Yakima Valley team with NBA prospect MarJon Beauchamp this Tuesday May 18th at home.
