Columbia Basin swept Yakima Valley in the Thursday double header 12-8 and 24-5. The first two games of the 4-game series featured plenty of extra base hits and a barrage of runs.
CBC turned in 20 hits in game 1 good for 12 runs. Four Hawks had 3 or more hits lead by
McKenzie Lowry's 4-4 game with 6 RBIs. After finding themselves down 1 heading into the bottom of 5, Basin rolled a 4 spot capped off by a 3-run opposite field home run from
Genevieve Lou Medeiros.
Amanda Brown was able to hold the line in the final two innings for the victory.
In game 2, all 12 Hawk hitters that stepped to the plate recorded a hit. Basin had 10 extra base hits good for 24 runs. Lowry hit 2 home runs while
Ashlynn Nixon capped off a perfect game at the plate finishing 3-3 with a double, a home run and 5 RBI's. CBC scored 11 runs in the second inning and 8 runs in the 4th.
Kylie Koszykowski crushed 3 doubles on her way to a 7-9 day at the plate.
The two wins bumps CBC back to 500 on the year as they continue to build on their hot streak winning 5 of their last 7. They will take on Yakima again this Sunday in Yakima.
