Columbia Basin split a Saturday double header with Big Bend winning the first game 12-4 in 5 innings before dropping game two 10-1 in 5 innings.
Game one featured back-to-back-to-back home runs from
Kylie Koszykowski,
Kendra Hart and
Ashlynn Nixon. The trio combined for 7 of the 14 hits in the game, 6 of which were extra base hits. CBC jumped on Big Bend early on Sophomore day, exploding for 8 runs in the first two innings. That was more than enough for pitcher
Amanda Brown to get the job done in 5 innings. Brown scattered 7 hits for 4 runs (2 earned) in the effort. Nixon and
McKenzie Lowry both doubled in runs in the bottom of the 5th to put an end to the game early on the 8-run rule.
Game two did not fair much like game one. CBC only managed 6 hits in the contest and 1 run late in the 5th. Freshman
Shaine Madden held Big Bend down for just 3 runs in 4 innings before the Vikings put a 7 spot on the board. Koszykowski scored the only run in the game for the Hawks on a
Marissa Bartels single.
After the game, the team presented a send off round trip on the bases for their four sophomores-
Danyel Finley,
Sarah Evans,
Alyssa Schwendiman and
Izabel Stohel. The Hawks finish the season with a 13-15 record on a much improved year. They will look to build on their success next year in a potential NWAC tournament bid.
