CBC defeated the Tacoma Titans on Wednesday night by a final score of 3 sets to 2 in epic comeback fashion. The Hawks dropped the first two sets early to Tacoma before winning 3 in a row to take the victory.
Basin fought all night in tight sets with the Titans especially early where they saw a 24-21 lead in Set 1 fall to a 27-25 win for Tacoma. The Titans continued to roll through set 2 winning 25-22. Coach G's speech at the break was good enough to get her team back on track and right the ship as they came out with a purpose in set 3. Lead by the 12 kills of Freshman
Grace Morby, the Hawks hit their spots and did not concede easy points on defense.
After winning set 3 25-22, they came out more aggressive in the 4th with a belief that they were the better team.
Lucendy Perez and
Haley Bjorkman began carving up Tacoma with well placed attacks that found the floor regularly for the 25-14 drumming.
They continued their onslaught into set 5 where they again climbed ahead early 8-4 with timely defense and chemistry. The Titans were able to cut it to 11-10 but CBC was too much. Perez's final kill along with 2 attack errors from Tacoma put the game in the books at 15-11.
Despite playing in their first contest, the win pushes CBC's record to 3-0 on the season after a pair of forfeits from Centralia College due to COVID-19 protocols. The Hawks will travel on the road for 3 weeks before returning home for their first matchup against rival Walla Walla on September 24th at 6pm.
