Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hawks take down Timberwolves, continue win streak

FINAL SCORE: CBC 6   Blue Mountain 0

CBC Women's Soccer continued their high scoring attack against Blue Mountain in a 6-0 blowout on Saturday. Freshman Kaitlin Maddison finished the day with two goals and an assist to lead the Hawks. Camryn Thoreson and Kassadi Suitonu each added two goals in the effort.

After losing to Blue Mountain at home in the Spring for the first time in program history, CBC had nothing but retribution on their mind and it took them only 2 minutes to get it started. Maddison struck first on a great attack lead by Suitonu for the early goal. Basin continued to press with Suitonu scoring again in the 5th minute, this time off a great cross from Baylee Shewchuk to make it 2-0. Maddison again found the back of the net in the 15th minute, this time from Kylee Alvarez.

The Hawk offense also converted on two attempts in the first half that were called off by an Offsides call. Blue Mountain had no room to breath the entire match as wave after wave of attack continued to rain down their defense. Unlike last season, Basin's dept is proving to be a real problem for opponents as the drop-off is almost nonexistent with players scoring frequently in the second unit.

In the second half, CBC scored back to back goals in the 55th and 56th minute, both by Thoreson. Her first strike came off a great play by Alvarez to set Thoreson up with a laser that had no chance of being stopped. One minute later, Thoreson again took a throw-in and turned and fired a deep curving shot that the Blue Mountain keeper was able to snag but was eventually ruled that she caught it behind the goal line resulting in the score for Thoreson. The Hawks had 3 other opportunities that should have been converted but were either just barely saved or again called back by the official.

Basin will look to continue their 4-game win streak this Wednesday in Walla Walla against their rival the Warriors. For now, CBC holds on to first place in the East Region at 3-0-0.
