FINAL SCORE: Columbia Basin 3 North Idaho 0
CBC continued their streak of shutouts Saturday against North Idaho with a 3-0 victory. The win makes it 6 in row for the Hawks, all of which coming in shutout fashion. Sophomore forward
Cassidie Andrews opened up the match with a streaking goal off a through-ball by
Kylee Alvarez in the 3rd minute of the game. North Idaho's defense appeared to be the strongest CBC has faced in league so far but it wasn't going to be enough as Alvarez found
Camryn Thoreson on a cross just 2 minutes later for the goal to make it 2-0 in just 5 minutes of play.
Basin continued to control the tempo on offense with great spacing and timely passing without turning it over. CBC captain
Reilyn Davis found the back of the net for her first goal of the season in the 24th minute, this time from Andrews. The 3-0 lead heading into half was more than enough for the Hawks as they cruised through the second half with a few close looks that were saved but only giving up one serious change from NIC that banged off the crossbar.
The defense, lead by Freshman
Avery Bond consistently won the position battle against the NIC offense who couldn't find any space within the box the entire day. Coach
Omar Anderson seems to have his most well-rounded team to date that is developing into a force to be reckoned with. They will get their first test on the road next week as they travel to Yakima on Wednesday to complete their first round of league before heading to Spokane for a rematch of last Spring's best two teams.
