FINAL SCORE: Columbia Basin 3 Spokane 0
Spokane could not hang with Columbia Basin as the Hawks defeated the Bigfoot 3-0 in convincing fashion.
Raymundo Mendez found the back of the net twice on the day, first with a point blank look at the net from
Jesus Silva in the 7th minute of the match. Basin's attacking was bolstered by the play of
Johnny Ramirez who is putting in an early campaign for offensive player of the year. Ramirez, who had 4 shots on goal, did not find the net but only due to some great saves from the Spokane keeper.
On the other side of half, Mendez found the net again, this time from
Zinedine Moreno to make it 2-0. Ramirez and
Oscar Cortez began peppering the Spokane keeper. At times, they toyed with the defense using a series flashy moves to avoid defenders. Cortez finally scored off a cross from Ramirez with a juke of the keeper and sending home a laser beam.
The convincing win for CBC continues to build confidence after a tough opening weekend that saw them lose three in a row. Even with the back to back wins, Basin is still waiting for impact players to come off protocols to bolster an already loaded lineup.
They will travel to Treasure Valley in Ontario next Wednesday to look to make it 3 in a row against the Chukars.
