Columbia Basin defeated Big Bend 101-76 to improve to 2-0 in league play. Jase Edwards had a career night from the field with 35 points on 14-17 shooting. Along with Edwards, 4 other Hawks scored in double figures including 16 from Amar Rivers.

Both teams hit the floor running after the opening tip. Content to let the horses loose, Coach Anthony Owens let his guys run and shoot and they did a ton of both. The Hawks were able convert from deep all night shooting 8-15 in the first half. TJ Smith had 10 points off the bench in the period as Basin raced out to a 45-28 lead at half.

Big Bend was able to hit the reset button outside of half scoring 20 points in the first 5 minutes to cut the lead to just 52-48. A rough shooting patch by CBC let the Vikings climb all the way back to tie it at 60-60 with 11 minutes to go. Suddenly, the Hawks flipped the switch back on hit the jets. Edwards scored 21 of his 35 over the next 8 minutes without missing a shot. Leo Gerardo was able to slice and dice in the lane on his way to 14 points.

CBC finally put their lead back to 29 points with a minute to go after crushing any hope the Vikings had of stealing an upset. After the dust had settled, CBC shot 62% from the floor including their best performance from Down Town making 13 of 23 3-pointers. They were also 18-22 from the Free Throw line. The win pushes the Hawk record up to 9-4 good for a 3-way tie atop the East Region with Wenatchee Valley and North Idaho. They will look to keep their winning streak alive as they travel to take on the Blue Mountain Timberwolves in the road this Saturday.
