Columbia Basin defeated Spokane in straight sets at home on Wednesday.
Lucendy Perez lead the charge with 9 kills and 5 aces in the match. Five other Hawks logged at least 5 kills in the team effort.
Basin got off to a hot start in this one looking in sync as a team. They took advantage of early Spokane errors leading by as much as 21-12. Spokane was able to put together a little run but it wasn't enough as the great passing and defensive effort lifted CBC to the 25-20 win.
Set 2 featured a clinic in serving from sophomore hitter
Lucendy Perez. Perez was able to lead a 9-1 run including 5 aces. The Sasquatch had no answer for the Hawk attack as Perez was also able to put away 4 kills on the outside. After a Spokane timeout, the Hawks again stamped a 7-0 run on the set to finish it off 25-10.
As the night progressed, it became clear that CBC had their A-game working as they dove all over the court to keep chances alive and get the ball to the right hitters at the right time. With the score at 12-6, Basin registered 8 kills on their way to the 25-17 set win and sweep.
The win sets up a showdown with North Idaho with the East Region title on the line. CBC lost to the Cardinals in Idaho 3-2 for their only loss of the year. If Basin can log a win at home, it will come down to a tie breaker if both teams can win out. First serve is set for 6pm on Friday at Holden Court.
