Wenatchee Valley defeated Columbia Basin 1-0 in a hard fought game.
In a first for CBC, they were held scoreless for the first time this year. Despite the zero on the scoreboard, CBC was not short on chances as they outshot the Knights 14-4.
Wenatchee scored their lone goal in the 9th minute on a long distance attempt that slipped off the extended arms of keeper
Jose Corona and fell just on the other side of the goal line. From that moment on, Wenatchee did not challenge the Hawks offensively. However, CBC failed to convert any looks as they got off to a slow start on offense.
As the second half wore on,
Raymundo Mendez was able to draw a foul in the box that lead to a penalty kick.
Zinedine Moreno was tasked with the shot having previously converted his last PK against Spokane. This time, he guessed wrong as the WVC keeper was just able to get his finger tips on the ball that bounced and spun off just outside of the goal for the missed attempt.
The Hawks almost converted on two headers in the box but again the bounces all went for the Knights. The loss bumps CBC to 9-3 on the year, 7-3 in the East with possession of the Table still intact. They will need at least one win and a tie to win the East Region outright. They will travel to Spokane to take on a tough Bigfoot squad on Saturday.
