Columbia Basin defeated Wenatchee Valley 4-0 on Wednesday. Four different Hawks scored in the effort against a struggling Knight roster.
Ana Andrade opened up the scoring in the 10th minute off a corner kick. Wenatchee was content to sit back and play defense to get through the game. Basin continued to work their offense around while looking for easy looks.
Camryn Thoreson scored off her own rebound in the 11th minute to make it 2-0. CBC had 22 shots on the day and was not short on chances.
Outside of halftime,
Kassadi Suitonu scored one on the home end from
Yareli Sanchez. The Hawks were able to frequently rotate their entire roster around on the field as everyone got quality minutes. Andrade scored again in the 58th minute from
Violet Duran. As the game wore on, reality set in as Basin still continued to pepper the Wenatchee goal with shots but nothing that would stick.
The win moves CBC to 13-0-1 on the year and 11-0-1 in the East. They will get a big road test on Saturday when the travel to Spokane for the second leg of that series. A tie or a win would clinch another East Region title for the Hawks.
