Columbia Basin defeated Motion College in their home opener to start the year 107-60. Ta'Veus Randle lead all scorers with 14 points while Javon Handcox added 13 off the bench.
CBC came out sluggish as Motion was able to set the pace early. Neither team took good care of the ball and scoring was few and far in between. As the half wore on, Basin was able to gain a little separation with Bobby Siebers and Lawson Vella scoring 8 a piece off the bench. The Hawks were able to close the half on a 11-0 run by applying full court pressure.
Just outside of half, Randle and Jayden Martinez knocked down back-to-back shots and the Hawks never looked back. They made 6 of 7 3pt attempts in the half while scoring 60. Gabriel Wigginton had 10 of his 12 in the half backed by a couple knock-down 3's midway through the period. Despite the turnovers, the impressive shooting performance and athleticism showed brightly as CBC went on the finish off the contest 107-60.
The will turn around on Sunday to face the Northwest Cougars All-star team before heading to Walla Walla for the Warrior Classic on December 2nd.
