Columbia Basin defeated Blue Mountain 3-0 to finish their final home game with a perfect record on Holden Court. Tamia Allen-Greggs and Lucendy Perez each had 7 kills to lead the way for CBC who swung .253 on the night.
With emotions running high on Sophomore Night following the passing of Coach DiShondra Goree, the Hawks struggled to take off early in the set. The near sellout crowd seemed to have both sides in shellshock. However, after a service error from the Timberwolves, the vaunted CBC attack was able to get their wings under them and take off on a 14-3 run to pull away. Perez was able to land a couple aces and kills in the attack.
Once Basin had the wind and the crowd at their back, they began to go to work making quick order of the second set as well. Grace Morby and Allen-Greggs were able to swing a perfect rotation combining for 6 kills as the Hawks took advantage of Blue Mountain mistakes. Josephine Thompson was able to slam the door with two aces to finish the set at 25-14.
In Set 3, Blue Mountain tried their best to hang around as the Hawks were able to spread the love around with plenty of substitutions off the bench. With the score 16-12, CBC went on a 6-0 run lead by the outstanding service of Perez. Perez finished the night with 4 aces to add to her CBC record-setting total of 31 on the year.
After the final whistle tallied point 25, CBC embraced each other knowing they had won their final regular season home game for Coach Goree. They will need some help for Yakima Valley on Friday to win back possession of the East Region. If the Yaks beat North Idaho and CBC beats Wenatchee Valley on Friday, the Hawks will win the East Region title and host a playoff regional. If Yakima fails to top NIC, the Hawks will head out on the road for their regional action on November 12th.
