Columbia Basin defeated Northwest Indian College 72-36 to cap off a 7-2 preseason in convincing fashion.

Lexie Heath lead all scorers with 19 points alongside 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Ali May added 13 points while Trinidie Nichols and Emma Maxwell each scored 10 for the Hawks. A stellar defensive effort by CBC head NWIC to just 17 points in the first half with only 1 point allowed in the second quarter. Heath scored 12 of her 19 in the second quarter as Basin used a couple turnovers to get out in transition.

After taking a 19 point lead into half time, CBC continued to keep up the pressure in the backcourt causing havoc as the Eagles struggled to find anything on offense. May connected on a couple of 3-point attempts to help stretch the lead to 22 after 3 quarters. Even when shots were not falling, the Hawks were able to hit the offensive glass gathering 30 offensive rebounds which lead to 24 second chance points. 

Another big defensive effort in the 4th quarter would be enough to finish off the Eagles on the way to the 36-point win for the Hawks. CBC will hit the road to begin 2023 with a 3-game stint against North Idaho, Wenatchee Valley and Blue Mountain before returning to the home court to take on Yakima Valley with tip-off slated for 2pm on January 16th.
