CBC split another double header on Wednesday, this time against Yakima Valley. The Yaks scored 3 in the top of the 9th to take the first game, 6-3. The Hawks rallied back in game two with a dominate performance from
Josh Aribal to get a 3-1 win.
GAME 1
With both #1 starters on the mound for each team, it figured to be a pitchers duel. CBC starter
Ian Hughes surrendered just one hit in his 5.2 innings of work while gathering 9 strike outs. His only hit came on a 4th inning triple that turned into a run as CBC overthrew 3rd base.
In the top of the 6th, Hughes ran into some trouble after giving up 3 walks to load the bases.
Ryker Stevens was tasked with getting out of the jam but surrendered a 2-RBI single to give Yak a 3-0 lead.
CBC came right back in the 7th with 3 of their own on a
Brooks Rasmussen double that brought home two.
Alex Rodriguez also sprayed a 2-out single to left to tie the game. The Yaks were able to break the tie in the 9th with a couple of big hits with runners on to take a late 6-3 lead for the final score.
GAME 2
In need of a split to stay in contention for a playoff spot, starter
Josh Aribal turned in a much needed performance on the mound. The righty was able to strike out 11 in his 5 innings of work giving up just one run.
In the bottom of the 6th,
Steven Meier was able to bring home
Isaac Haws on a sac to tie the game up at one. In the 7th, it was Haws' turn to deliver and the short stop did just that with a 2-out double that scored two runs to push ahead the Hawks 3-1.
Yakima gave Basin a scare in the 8th after loading the bases but
Garrett Bryant was able to get a big strike out with 2 outs to end the threat.
Jaxon Henderson came on to deliver in a save opportunity and was able to convert after getting a double play to finish off the Yaks 3-1.
