Columbia Basin defeated Treasure Valley for their second region win in a row by final score of 8-1. The Hawks were lead the by the two goals of
Corey Villegas while
Raymundo Mendez added 4 assists in the effort.
It did not take CBC very long to get going in this one as
Juan Diego Mendoza opened up the scoring with a goal in the 2nd minute of the match.
Johnny Ramirez immediately followed it up with one of his own as the Hawks looked to be in complete control on offense. Treasure Valley was able to net a goal of their own in the 21st minute on a loose ball put back inside the CBC box.
After emerging with a 5-1 lead at half, the Hawks steady worked the ball around the pitch searching for ways to get their forwards good looks. When Ramirez was awarded a free kick, the Sophomore forward attempted to go left but was blocked by the keeper. In the rebound,
Alan Barragan was able to put it back off the foot of Mendez.Â
When the final whistle blew, 7 different Hawks had scored in the effort as Basin outshot the Chukars 26-2 on the day. They will get their first road test this Saturday as they travel to rival Walla Walla for sole possession of first place in the East.
