Wenatchee Valley defeated Columbia Basin 3-1 in Pasco, Friday night.
Zuri Reeser lead in kills for the Hawks with 18 followed closely by
Caydence Taylor with 15.
Taylor and Reeser came out hot early as Basin was able to jump ahead early and command the set with quality passing and sets from
Yajaira Meraz and
Brooklyn Cagle. CBC was ahead 22-17 but the Knights reeled off 4 in a row to make it close but Reeser and Taylor each put away kills to give the set to the Hawks 25-22.
From there, Wenatchee got hot on the outside as they were able to convert on their free balls and were able to get some breaks on their way to a 25-16 and 25-19 wins in Sets 2 and 3. Serve receive was hard to come by facing the strong Knight servers who combined for 10 aces.
Basin was able to go on a run in the middle of the 4th to cut the lead to 15-13 but were unable to find some magic as each team traded points the rest of the way through the set to give Wenatchee the 25-18 win and the match.
CBC drops to 12-10 on the year (4-5 East Region) and will get to travel to Idaho to face the undefeated Cardinals in Coeur d'Alene on Wednesday starting at 6pm.
