Columbia Basin defeated Spokane 4-0 at home to sweep the Sasquatch on the year. Four different Hawks scored in the effort lead by
Jonas Olvera's 15th minute goal.
Needing just 4 more points to clinch their 3rd straight East Region title (4 out of last 5), CBC had no trouble navigating around Spokane at home. All 4 goals came in the first half in a dominate performance once again. It was Olvera leading it off before
Alejandro Guzman went soaring for a spectacular one-touch goal off the free kick from
Rafael Lucio. Things got chippy from there as Spokane tried to make it a physical game but were unable to mount any attacks against the Hawks.
Oscar Gurrola got his second goal in as many games in the 38th minute from
Justin Jacobo and
Carlos Camacho beat the keeper to a jump ball just in time for the header before a big collision that knocked the Bigfoot keeper out of the game.
Outside of halftime, CBC was not short on good looks but were unable to convert. Those looks would not be needed as they backed in to the 4-0 victory in an all-around effort by the whole team. They remain undefeated on the year at 12-0 and sit just 1 point shy of clinching a 1st round bye. They will finish off the regular season with North Idaho at home on Wednesday before hitting the road for the final two games.
