Spokane handed Columbia Basin their first loss of the season 4-1 at home.
Jordan McVay scored the lone goal for Basin from
Emma Haertling in the losing effort.
With the East Region essentially on the line, it was Spokane that emerged victorious behind a hat trick from Abbey Jay. The Sasquatch scored early in the 6th minute as a free kick bounced untouched over the head of CBC keeper
Jayauna Keister. With the early deficit, CBC was not short on chances. They were unable to convert on 3 open net tries, two of which sailed high from inside 10 feet.
The Hawks were able to get on the board with McVay's goal in the 42nd minute heading into half tying it at 1-1. Outside of halftime, Spokane was able to get loose on counter attacks and the normally strong back line was unable to make a stop when they needed to. The Sasquatch reeled off 3 in a row that put the game out of reach as CBC was unable to find the net the rest of the way.
The loss drops them down to second place in the East with a looming rematch against NIC staring them down the barrel. They will take the pitch against the Cardinals on Wednesday at 2pm in Pasco.
