Columbia Basin defeated Blue Mountain 3-1 to sweep the season against the Timberwolves.
Caydence Taylor lead all hitters with 16 kills while
Zuri Reeser added 11 in the effort.
As the Hawks inch back closer to a full and healthy roster, they continued to build up a win streak. With Libero
Abbey Bonnington back in the lineup, the Hawks have reeled off 3 in a row including a 3-1 win over Blue Mountain at home. An uncharacteristic 1st set saw the Hawks give up a big early lead on the verge of set point but the Timberwolves scored 6 of the final 7 to steal the set away 26-24. Taylor had 6 of her 16 in the frame but was unable to get a solid attack in the final few points.
From then on, it was all Hawks as they began to make their adjustments on defense and pound away at the Timberwolf back row. Reeser and
Camille Collins did damage in the 2nd set as Basin backed their way into a 25-22 win to get them back in the right direction.
Set 3, the Hawks used a 7-1 run of their own at 18-17 to pull away with help from
Yajaira Meraz who was able to come up with a timely dump and ace before Taylor put the finishing touches on the 25-18 final.Â
Blue Mountain was able to hang around in the 4th set but the steady approach by Basin began to force errors by Blue in big spots. Again at 16-14, CBC would go on to record 11 of the final 14 points as T-wolves committed 6 errors late to help seal the deal at 25-19.
The win moves CBC back on to the good side of 500 at 7-6 in conference (15-11 Overall). They will travel to Spokane for a rematch of their 5-set loss at home with the winner of that match taking control of the final spot for the playoffs. CBC will return home for Sophomore Night on November 1st where they get an 0-12 Big Bend team starting at 6pm.
