Haertling's goals lead Hawks into Elite 8

Columbia Basin defeated Pierce in the opening round of the NWAC playoffs at CBC 2-0. Emma Haertling scored both goals in the winning effort as the Hawks held the Raiders to just one shot on the day.

On a wet and rainy day in Pasco, Columbia Basin was able to take it to Pierce College in single elimination. Basin came out as the aggressor with physical play that they haven't always played with. After enduring a little Pierce run in Hawk territory, CBC started churning in the midfield and advanced down into the attacking end where they would spend most of the day.

Haertling got on the board in the 22nd minute with a beautiful shot that lifted and curved away for the far-post finish giving the Hawks an early lead. Basin is 14-0-1 after scoring first on the year and they played like it. Shortly after in the 28th minute, Madisyn Joyner was able to find a streaking Haertling up the middle who put one touch on the ball without hesitation for the second and final goal of the day.

CBC outshot Pierce 14-1 on the day as the defense was able to keep any attacks away. The Raider keeper was able to get her hands on two shots that seemed destined for net to keep the score down to the 2-0 final but the Hawks were not short on chances in the second half.

CBC will travel to South #1 Chemeketa with another Final Four birth on the line. The Hawks defeated the Storm 1-0 in a preseason scrimmage.
