Columbia Basin defeated Clark in the December Invitational opener 76-60. Trinidie Nichols lead all scorers with 28 while Mickayla Robertson and Lexie Heath combined for 32 in support.

Taking on an athletic Clark team, CBC was able to weather an early haymaker from the Penguins to continue on their win streak. Clark was able to take a quick lead at 7-6 but that would be it as the Hawks scored 28 in the first period with a handful of 3's from Robertson. The Penguins were seemingly converting everything on offense but the score still showed CBC up 6 after 1 quarter.

In the second period, the Hawk defense was able to make the necessary adjustments allowing just 11 points in the 2nd while Nichols scored 13 of the Basin 17 increasing their lead to a halftime score of 43-31. Clark was able to hang around through the 3rd as the went inside with a couple of low post scores but Heath took her turn scoring 9 on a pair of 3's from deep. Nichols was able to bring it home in the 4th as the Hawks lead by as many as 21 points before a couple of last second free throws for the Penguins landed them at the 76-60 final score.

CBC will get its biggest test of the season on Day 2 versus National JUCO Snow College who cruised to a 20 point win over Walla Walla in the earlier tilt. Tipoff is scheduled for 2pm on Holden Court.
