Columbia Basin avenged their earlier loss on the road to the Timberwolves with a 82-70 final at home.
Bobby Siebers scored 19 to lead all scorers while
Jayden Martinez scored 17.
In Pendleton, CBC gave up an uncharacteristically big second half to the Timberwolves while taking the loss but tonight would be the opposite. Both teams struggled early to get any offense going as CBC could not convert a single 3 in the half. Defensively, they were able to hold Chad Napoleon to just 7 points in the half as Blue couldn't score at the rim with easy looks.Â
Basin continued to grind and grind as different guys took their turn getting in on the action. A couple of last minute buckets for each team lead to a 33-33 tie at the half.
Outside of halftime, the Hawks were able to finally hit their stride on offense. Siebers got hot making 3 of 5 attempts from deep while Martinez made all 6 shots he took in the half. The relentless pressure seemed to get the Timberwolves out of sync allowing the Hawks to build a 14 point lead with 8 minutes to go.
Some foul trouble by Basin let the T-wolves back into the game with 17 free-throws. The lead dwindled down to as little as two with 4 minutes to go. Martinez canned a big 3 to put em back up 5 and they wouldn't look back.
Amar Rivers sank all 4 of his free-throws in the last minute for the 82-70 win.
CBC remains in 4th place but now has a game up on Yakima Valley. The Hawks will be tested as undefeated North Idaho comes to town on Wednesday with tip-off at 7:30pm.
