Columbia Basin defeated Blue Mountain at home for the season sweep 65-60.
Trinidie Nichols lead CBC with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Makenna Brandner added 10 points and 6 boards off the bench in support.
CBC came out a little sluggish to start the game as they looked to get their feet under them. Normally a 25% shooting team from deep, the Timberwolves were unconscious from downtown in the first half sinking 7 of 12 including 4 in the first period.
Kenzi Pedersen was able to help keep the game close with 6 points but the team as a whole was just 4 of 19.
Staring at an 8-point deficit to start the second, The Hawks were able to keep pace as the Timberwolves continued to sink some last-second 3's. Both teams score 14 in the period but a little life started to show through the Hawks in their Pink uniforms.
Outside of halftime, both teams moved back to their season norms. Blue was only able to shoot 2-12 in the quarter while turning it over 7 times. Meanwhile, CBC got hot with
Ali May sinking two 3's and Makenna Brandner started hitting her shots. CBC chased the deficit almost immediately with 22 points in the period and ended the frame +16 at 48-40.
Lokotui scored 15 points in the 4th for BM but it was not enough as a late technical foul on the Timberwolves allowed
Lexie Heath to make 3 of 4 free throws to bump the lead to 63-58 with 2 minutes to go. Nichols made her final two free throws to help lead CBC on to the 65-60 win.
CBC remains tied with Walla Walla in first place but the Hawks hold the tie-breaker over the Warriors. They will get a rematch with North Idaho at home on Wednesday February 8th starting at 5:30pm.
