Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Heath's 29 leads CBC into sole possession of 1st in East

Columbia Basin defeated North Idaho at home 71-54 for their 8th win in a row. Lexie Heath poured in a game high 29 points on 7 of 11 shooting from 3-point range. Trinidie Nichols added 16/6/6/6 in support.

After losing to the Cardinals in Coeur d'Alene, Heath and company were ready for some revenge. CBC held NIC to just 5 points in the first quarter while Heath  scored 14 to help race out to a 16-5 lead. The Cardinals caught fire in the second with 27 points on a handful of 3-balls. The Hawks were able to stem the bleeding by adding 21 to keep a 37-32 lead heading into half.

Outside of the break, Heath continued to put on a clinic with a couple of fall-away 3's while Nichols steadily distributed the ball across the court. A 10-point lead in the fourth would be more than enough as again the Cardinals could not connect on anything while it was Nichols who stepped in to close. She finished the period a perfect 3-3 from the floor to go with 3 steals and an assist.

With this win and another Walla Walla loss, CBC moves into sole possession of 1st place in the East. They will get a tester on Saturday as they head to Yakima to take on the Yaks with tipoff scheduled for Saturday at 2pm.
