Bellevue defeated Columbia Basin 75-70 in the Men's Final Four matchup.
Jayden Martinez lead all scorers with 24 points on 9 of 15 shooting.
Malakai Munoz added 14 including 4 second half 3's.
Early in the year these two teams squared off with CBC emerging victorious but today was a new day. The Bulldogs came ready to avenge their loss and were able to get out to a strong first half start. CBC started off slowly shooting just 13 of 37 in the period including 1 of 11 from deep.
As both teams settled in to the flow of the game, it seemed as if the Bulldogs were living at the free throw line. CBC was called for 10 fouls resulting in 13 free throws while the Hawks shot no free throws themselves in the half. The aggressive trapping defense just seemed to be half a pass away from a steal but to Bellevue's credit, they hit their looks at the rim to the tune of 40 first half points.
Outside of halftime, Basin turned on the jets as they were able to get the lead down to just 5 points midway through the half. Martinez scored 17 of his 24 in the half but every time the Hawks would get it close, the whistle came back to favor Bellevue who shot 32 free throws on the night to just 11 for CBC. Munoz knocked down a couple 3's in a row to keep it inside a two possession game but his last attempt with just over a minute to go glanced off the rim giving Bellevue what would turn out to be the closing free throws. The Bulldogs made 3 of their final 4 free throws on the way to the 75-70 win advancing them into the championship game against Everett.
CBC's season comes to a close at 22 and 7 and a tremendous tournament run for a small group of sophomores who will move on to the next level in 2024.
