Game Recap: Softball |

Jackson carries Hawks to sweep of Bigfoot

Basin wasted no time getting to work in the first game as Alexis Blankenship was able to single and steal second before Madi Olson drove her in for the game's first run. Macao Jackson was great early in the circle going 3 scoreless innings before giving up just one in the fourth.

Olson drove in her second of 3 RBIs in the third on a based loaded sac fly but CBC was unable to convert past the sac. The big inning for the Hawks came in the 6th where Olson, Kendra Hart and Jackson combined to drive in 4 runs for CBC to make it a 9-2 game. Spokane was able to mount a rally in the 7th featuring a 3-run home run that bounced off the fence in center but Jackson was able to close the door with the bases loaded giving Basin the 9-6 final.

The Sasquatch were able to put some runs up on the board in Game 2 keeping pace with CBC. Starter Graci Brady was still able to work around some early trouble after the first 3 innings to shut out Spokane for the final 3 innings. Stephanie Bryson doubled in 2 runs in the 4th to help Basin pull ahead 6-4 in what was shaping out to be a tight game. However, CBC was able to bust it wide open in the 5th inning first with Ashlynn Nixon hammering a first pitch fastball off the scoreboard in right field. Then it was Jackson in a pinch hit situation hitting an opposite field 3-run homer to give the Hawks a 10-4 lead.

The capstone on the two-win day came in the bottom of the 6th with the bases loaded and no outs. After working a full count to her advantage, Harley Raymond crushed a no-doubter to dead center for the game ending grand slam, her second of the weekend.

The wins move CBC to 5-1 in East Region play (12-4 overall) keeping them locked in at #3 in the RPI. They will travel to Yakima Valley on Tuesday to get another crack at the Yaks after sweeping them to open the season.
