Columbia Basin split a double-header against Treasure Valley to finish off the regular season 3-2 and 16-11.
Macao Jackson took the decision in both games pitching well the entire day.
In Game 1, both teams struggled on offense but Jackson was great in the circle. After a few miscues on defense in inning one, the Chukars took an early 1-0 lead. CBC was able to get runners on base but would ultimately strand 11 runners including multiple innings with runners in scoring position.
Josie Phillips singled in a run in the 4th to make it 2-1 but the Chukars added a big insurance run in the 6th to take a 3-1 lead.
Harley Raymond was able to drive in
Madi Olson in the 7th but the Hawks could not get the tying run across in time settling for the 3-2 loss.
In Game 2, the bats came alive early as CBC put up a 5-spot in the first highlighted by a couple stolen bases and RBI's from Olson, Raymond and
Kobbey Smith. Treasure Valley was able to get to
Graci Brady in the 3rd for 6 runs but Jackson came back in to stem the damage.
Basin turned right back around and answered with 7 runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. Again using a couple of walks and stolen bases, the Hawks gave Jackson the 12-6 lead back and that would be enough. Smith added a solo home run in the 4th, CBC's only home run of the day. 3 more insurance runs in the 6th gave Basin the 16-10 lead.
Johnna Overby got the call to finish off the 7th and got a little help from a bases loaded double play to get out of a jam and end the game at 16-11.
The Hawks finish the regular season with another 30-win year at 33-13. They will wait to see how the RPI shakes out but will most likely come in as the 7th seed and will face either Douglas or Treasure Valley in the tournament opener.
