Columbia Basin defeated Treasure Valley 5-2 with sophomore forward
Gabriel Delgado sitting the contest out. 5 different Hawks scored in the effort.
CBC turned in another strong offensive night against a much improved Treasure Valley team. The Chukars seemed able and willing to keep up with the physicality and speed of the game giving CBC fits early on. As Basin got their footing without Delgado, they ignored the physical pressure and began to take over.
Carlos Camacho got on the board with a flying right foot off the pass from
Diego Lopez in the box for the opening goal.
Jonas Olvera was able to draw a foul in the box that
Julian Reyes put away on the PK for the second goal of the game.
Outside of halftime, Basin stayed in control of the game with
Eric Martinez putting away the rebounded shot from Camacho giving CBC the comfortable 3-0 lead. As the second unit came into the game, CBC scored another, this time from
Alejandro De La Torre off the great pass from
Jose Napoles.Â
The Chukars got on the board in the 80th minute off a corner kick header that seemed like a blown defensive assignment. Basin came right back with the answer from
Jorge Perez (from Lucio). Treasure Valley added a stoppage time rebound goal for their second of the game but it was too late as the final whistle sounded immediately following the goal.
The win moves CBC to 2-0 in the East (5-0 overall). The #1 ranked Hawks will travel to Blue Mountain on Saturday where they've had struggles in the past. Kick-off scheduled for 2:15pm.
