Columbia Basin shut out Walla Walla at home 2-0 to stay undefeated on the year.
Jonas Olvera and
Diego Lopez each scored in the winning effort.
In their toughest league test yet, the Hawks rose to the challenge and soared.
Dylan Isasi and the Basin defense were able to hold the Warriors without a shot until the 85th minute.
Jonas Olvera got loose early in the 8th minute off a pass from
Rafael Lucio giving the Hawks the early lead.
As the Hawks drove down in the 37th minute,
Jorge Perez took a pass in the box and made a spectacular no-look backwards drop pass for a streaking Lopez who hammered the ball home for the second goal of the day.
The frustrated Warriors were unable to crack the CBC defense on the day as the Hawks controlled time of possession by a convincing margin. CBC did pick up 4 yellows on the day in a physical game but were able to stay solid when it counted as they backed into the shut-out.
The wins moves them to 9-0 on the year and a 5 point lead in the Region after the first leg. They will travel to Wenatchee Valley on the 4th to begin the second leg of league play against the Knights.
