Lower Columbia needed a last second buzzer beater in OT to down Columbia Basin 57-55.
Amber Swan scored 21 points for the Hawks to go along with 9 rebounds.
In a low-scoring slugfest, it was Lower Columbia who emerged victorious as they were able to escape CBC in OT on a last second shot. Neither team shot the ball well early in the first half but Swan and
Analyssa Maldonado were able to make timely plays to help CBC to an early 25-22 lead heading into half. The Hawk defense held LCC to just 6 points in the second quarter.
Outside of halftime, the Red Devils were able to cut the gap with a could of 3's to take a 1 point lead into the 4th quarter. Taking advantage of LCC on the fast break, Swan was able to make back-to-back layups with 1 minute to go in the game giving Basin a 49-44 lead. But, a three-pointer for LC and a technical foul on CBC allowed the Devils to make a 5-point run to send it into overtime.
In OT, Swan completed a personal 5-0 to tie the game up at 55 with just 4 seconds remaining. After a 30 second timeout, CBC was able to defend the inbound forcing LCC into a broken play and a 14-foot fling from the free throw line that grazed the front of the rim, slammed into the backboard and into the bottom of the net for the game-winner.
The loss moves CBC to 0-2 on the year but they will get a chance to rebound in Walla Walla against a Tacoma team playing their first game of the year on November 22nd. They will face off against Green River the next day.
