Hawks blitz Panthers to complete Crossover sweep

Columbia Basin defeated Portland 63-48 on Day 3 of the NWAC Crossover. Baylie Voile had 13 points off the bench for the Hawks while Ezrah Ray added 13 points.

After falling behind 10-2 to open the contest, CBC got to work in transition to immediately flip the momentum and race away with the game. CBC's press lead by the speedy backcourt of Sadie Tanner and Analyssa Maldonado helped create chaos on the Portland end that lead to easy transition buckets. The Hawks were able to make it a 1-point game by the end of the first period but the second quarter was all CBC. Basin opened up the second frame on a 14-4 run to take a comfortable lead midway through. Tanner and Kim Wolgemuth knocked down shots inside of 30 seconds left to give the Hawks a 35-19 lead at the break.

Outside of half, the lead stretched to as many as 21 points as Ray got going inside while Tanner and Amber Swan were able to nab 4 steals in the 3rd quarter. Portland mounted a small run in the 4th to cut the lead to 10 points but the strong team defense from CBC created more transition looks as 5 different Hawks scored in the last period. The Panthers hit a couple 3's but it was not enough as Basin grabbed two offensive rebounds that allowed them to run out the clock for the 63-48 final.

With 3 wins in a row, CBC moves to 6-3 on the year as they will close out 2024 with a home game against Linn-Benton on Friday December 20th after traveling to North Idaho on Wednesday the 18th.
