Columbia Basin defeated Wenatchee Valley at home 94-79.
Anton Williams netted 24 points while
Latrell Barker added in 21 of his own.
In need of a win to remain in contention for an East Region title, the Hawks got the performance they needed. Both Williams and Barker were active inside where they got great feeds for easy looks at the rim. CBC climbed out ahead through a barrage of 3's from Wenatchee for the early 10 point lead. Basin shot 62% from the field in the first half good for 46 points and the 12-point lead heading into half.
Outside of halftime, the Hawks backcourt got themselves going with
Ta'Veus Randle adding 9 in the half but it was Williams with the marque night. The sophomore big man shot 10 of 11 from the field including a perfect half with 4 of 4 from the field and also 2 free throws to go with 9 rebounds in total. The Hawks imposed their will on defense creating easy transition buckets creating a late 24-point lead.
Lauren O'Neill's 4 free throws capped off the scoring for the night as Basin backed into the 94-79 final.
The win pushes them to 17-8 on the year (9-3 Region) just two games back of Yakima Valley with 2 games to go. They will face off with the Yaks on Wednesday after they travel to Blue Mountain.Ā
