Columbia Basin defeated Wenatchee Valley at home for their 12th East Region win of the year clinching the 2024 East Region title.
Kenzi Pedersen lead all scorers with 20 points while
Lexie Heath added 19.
Following a huge win at Walla Walla, the Hawks needed just one of their remaining 3 games to claim their second Region title in as many years. From tipoff, there was no doubt. Basin took an early 22-0 lead with one minute to go in the first quarter. Pedersen scored 10 of her 20 in the first half as the Knights were able to come alive in the second quarter with 16 points but it was all CBC from start to finish.
Ouside of halftime, Basin controlled the tempo of the game despite a few 3's from the Knights to cut the lead to down to 20 but once the press went back on, that lead doubled in size.
Jayauna Keister and
Aniyah Heavens combined for 25 points off the bench including 3 of 7 from deep. CBC shot 50% from the field but was unable to cross the century mark falling just one point shy of 100.
The win improves their record to 21-2 on the year (12-0 Region). They will travel to Blue Mountain on Saturday before finishing up the regular season at home against Yakima Valley for sophomore night.Â
