Columbia Basin defeated Yakima Valley on sophomore night by an eye-popping score of 115-77.
Erin Morgan lead the way for CBC with 30 points and 8 rebounds while
Lexie Heath and
Kenzi Pedersen added 17 a piece in support.
Needing just one more win to complete the undefeated East Region run, CBC showed up and then some. Yakima did their best to try and go punch for punch but Basin was able to dice the Yak defense all night long. Morgan got going early in the first scoring 12 of her 30 while point guard
Trinidie Nichols steered her way into the paint early and often for easy looks. Yakima Valley didn't have an answer for the Hawk attack while Basin's defense was good enough to hold it down on the other end.
Outside of halftime, CBC continued to get every look they wanted on the offensive end as they began to pull away immediately in the 3rd, leading by as many as 35. Point 100 came with 5 minutes to go in the 4th from a Pedersen made free throw but a nifty step-through layin from
Jayauna Keister put the bow on the night with 5 seconds to go for the season high 115 points.
The win gives CBC a regular season record of 22-2 and a perfect 14-0 in East Region play. They will await their tournament matchup to be decided on Saturday night as the South Region finishes up their region play. They will play in the Saturday 12pm game of the tournament here in Pasco.
