GAME 2
Another solid outing for
Ryker Stevens in his third start of the year. The sophomore righty went 5 strong allowing just 3 hits and no runs.
Christian Jarocki walked in the first run of the game in the 1st to give CBC a quick lead once again. A sac fly from
Xavier Streadbeck in the 2nd continued the early scoring. Stevens was able to dominate with 4 strikeouts in the middle innings as the bats kept adding runs. In the top of the 3rd,
Elijah Havey added an RBI single to make it 3-0.
In the 4th,
Kevin Brekke and
Elliott Taylor were able to bring home 3 more as Taylor's single went through the outfielder's glove to the wall allowing Brekke to come all the way around for the crucial 6th run. From there, Treasure Valley was able to peck away at the CBC bullpen with 2 in the 7th and 2 more in the 8th before
Jack Fenton was asked to come in and clean it up for the 2-inning save. Fenton induced a bases loaded line out and ground ball to get out of the jam in the 8th. In the bottom of the 9th, a leadoff batter reach on a triple to right field with the ball getting lost in the sun. The Chukars then plated the run with a sac fly followed by walk. A failed pickoff attempt sent the tying run to 3rd base with 1 out. Fenton struck out the final two hitters to preserve the 6-5 final with both hitters going down looking.
The wins bump CBC to 8-2 on the year with a 6-game winning streak in progress. They will return to the diamond on Tuesday and Wednesday against Grays Harbor. First pitch on Tuesday scheduled for 12pm.Â
