CBC walked off Game 2 of the day for the split with Big Bend. The Vikings took the first game 10-7 while Basin emerged in Game 2 8-7.
Hagen Bowen drove in the game winning hit following a 2-out 2 RBI double from
Wyatt Lizama.
GAME 1
Starting pitching was not sharp for the Hawks on Saturday as Big Bend notched a 7-run 2nd inning to take a big lead.
Joe Pitts was able to give 6 innings of 1-run ball in relief.
Hayden Matray and
Alex Chamberlain each singled in a run in the 3rd but the Hawks were unable to bank more as they left the bases loaded with less than two outs.
Lizama smacked a solo homer in the 9th as part of a 3-run effort. Matray missed a game-tying homer by just a few feet as CBC was unable to complete the comeback in Game 1 falling 10-7.
GAME 2
Again in Game 2, Big Bend scored 7 runs in 3 innings before
Brayden Walls pitched 4 innings of no-hit ball striking out 8 of the 12 recorded outs. Down 7-2 early, Basin began clawing back slowiy.
Brayden Mayencourt, who had 3 hits in the game, doubled in a run in the fourth. Chamberlain plated another in the 6th pushing it to 7-5. With hope dwindling in the 9th,
Trevor Dale singeld and
Lance Anderson wore a pitch. With 2 outs, Lizama drove a ball off the wall in left center for a 2-RBI triple. Just as soon as Lizama reached 3rd,
Hagen Bowen drove one over the second baseman's head for the game-winning single handing Basin the 8-7 win.
CBC moves to 3-1 in conference and 20-6 overall. They will begin their 4-game series against Treasure Valley in Ontario starting at 1pm on Wednesday.
