Columbia Basin split a double header with Walla Walla taking Game 1 11-3 in 5 innings but dropping Game 2 13-10.
Alexis Blankenship notched 5 hits on the day tallying 5 RBIs.
In need of a quality start, Krick and the offense came through with flying colors in Game 1. The freshman righty went 5 complete allowing just 3 runs on 5 hits. Blankenship wasted no time getting the day started with lead off home run as part of a 3-run first frame.
Leia Duropan and Krick each added an RBI to give CBC the early lead.
Anna-Marie Shaffer and Krick put 2 more runs of support on in the 2nd.
In the bottom of the 5th leading 9-3, Duropan attempted a steal of second but suffered a gruesome arm injury as she collided with the short stop and both players fell to the ground. After the long injury delay,
Bailey Hausenbuiller doubled home the final two runs needed to end it in 5.
GAME 2
No without their short stop, Basin did their best to battle through the lingering emotions but the Warriors were able to emerge from a hitters duel. A 6-run third inning helped Walla race ahead early. Krick and
Stephanie Bryson doubled in runs to make 10-3 after 5 innings. In the bottom of the 6th, CBC answered with two home runs from Bryson and Krick to get it to 10-9. However, Walla scored 3 insurance runs which Basin could not match.Â
CBC still holds the 6-seed in the RPI and will head to Yakima on Tuesday as part of a 3-game road trip.
