Portland outlasted Columbia Basin in their Elite 8 matchup 86-82.
Ta'Veus Randle's 35 points was not enough as the season came to an end early.
Â
Taking on the South Region 1-seed provided fans with a thrilling game from wire to wire. Randle was hot out of the gate knocking down his first 4 shots giving CBC an early 11-4 lead. Portland was able to weather the barrage with some big shots of their own, coming back over the top and up 10 going into the half.
Â
In need of some defense and magic, the Hawks dug in and continued to wear out the Panthers. Basin was able to cut the lead inside of 4 multiple times in the half including a 3 from
Jayden Martinez with 30 seconds left. Having to foul with seconds remaining, The Panthers were able to ice it with 2 free throws. Randle's late desperation attempt could not find net as the final horn sounded.
