Columbia Basin and Walla Walla split a pair of Wednesday games in Pasco with scores of 4-3 and 5-3. Starter
Jake Robinson logged the win in Game 2 with a stellar 2 hit outing.
GAME 1
The bats were not hot on Wednesday as Walla Walla used a late rally to hang on to a 4-3 win. CBC got down early in the 4th as defensive miscues and small ball from the Warriors helped them to a 2-0 lead. After being thrown out at home on a first and third steal,
Brayden Mayencourt drove home just one run instead of two making it 2-1. Mayencourt struck again in the 7th with an RBI triple before
Kevin Brekke brought him home on a sac fly to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead.
Walla Walla drew a 2-out bases loaded walk in the 8th to tie it up before belting a solo home run in the top of the 9th for the lead. Basin had runners at 2nd and 3rd but were unable to score in the bottom of the 9th coming up short for the loss.
GAME 2
Robinson turned in a strong 6 inning start allowing just 2 hits and striking out 10 for the quality start.
Elijah Havey hit a sac fly in the second that brought home
Hayden Matray fresh off a triple from Matray. In the bottom of the 3rd, the Hawks scored 3 with an RBI from Matray and
Alex Chamberlain with help from the Warrior defense who committed two errors in the frame.
Cole Rohlmeier came through in the 5th with and RBI single to give the Hawks the 5-0 lead. Things got shakey in the 9th as Walla Walla plated 3 runs but
Ryker Stevens was able to come on for the final out, a strikeout, that secured the win for CBC.
CBC will travel to Walla Walla on Saturday for the second half of the series with first pitch slated for 1pm.
